Grateful Beyond Words!!

It’s another beautiful summer day in Santa Cruz. I am grateful every day for the joy of living in this amazing area, with its wonderful ocean and beaches, its towering redwood forests, and the absolute agricultural bounty that surrounds us. I am especially grateful that I live in a community of people who generously support the many groups who are working hard to improve this county and the lives of all of the people who live here.

So, it is with a sense of immense gratitude, that I write to you today to express my heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering support and the generosity you have shown to the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries, and to the library system throughout Santa Cruz County. Your commitment to our cause has had a profound impact on the lives of many, and I am delighted to share some of the incredible achievements made possible by your contributions.

Thanks to your support, we have been able to make significant strides in our mission to support our Libraries and to help bridge the gap between the available funding from Measure S and the transformative vision of a new library system shared by our community.  From the moment you joined hands with us, you became an indispensable part of our efforts to bring about positive change and transform our libraries.

Here are some of the remarkable accomplishments that we achieved together:

1. Provided over $90,000 for the Summer Reading Program, including Recover and Thrive, impacting over 10,000 children and parents throughout the county.

2. Raised almost half a million dollars for the Aptos branch, which we will transfer to the library on August 23rd. The new branch in Aptos opens in the fourth quarter of this year.

3. Raised another almost half a million dollars for the two new branches that have opened recently in the city, Garfield Park and Branciforte. We will be transferring those funds to the library in the next couple of months as well.

As I visit each of these new branches, and attend programs in all of them, I appreciate so much your selflessness and generosity. It doesn’t matter whether your gift was $5.00, or $50,000, you have inspired others around you to give back and make a difference. The impact of your actions resonates far beyond the numbers; it touches the hearts of countless individuals who have benefited from your support.

I am excited about the upcoming projects and initiatives that lie ahead, and I genuinely hope you will continue to stand by our side as we embark on this journey. We are grateful beyond words for your kindness, generosity, and ongoing support of the libraries. Without supporters like you, the work we do would not be possible.  Thank you.
